Founder's Story
A brief look back: The corona period has turned all of our lives upside down – I had to navigate the trials and tribulations of the (Berlin) education system with my son and was able to experience the excessive demands of schools and administration first-hand. But as we are a really good team, it was all manageable. True to the motto: a problem shared is a problem halved. But the experiences of the last few years as a single father in particular have taught me one thing: It doesn’t work, it doesn’t exist.
Another huge challenge was my move into entrepreneurship. In twenty years as an employee, I was often asked why I didn’t actually work as an entrepreneur, as I certainly have qualities such as resilience, a willingness to take risks, passion and self-confidence, as well as perseverance and stamina. But there was always something missing.
After playing a key role in building up a company from 2015 to mid-2020 (albeit as an employee), I increasingly came to the conclusion that we need to shape our own careers much more and actively steer them in the right direction.
“The cause is caring about each other. The secret to this job is personal relationships.”
[Jerry Maguire, Mission Statement “The things we think and do not say”]
One service is missing in the HR market: the player agent.
The player agent who takes me to the next club as a difference maker, who supports me in difficult situations with the management, who is my first point of contact for career questions. The Hollywood movie with Tom Cruise about the player agent Jerry Maguire really inspired me.
When I met Sven Galander in autumn 2020, I realized that there were no more excuses. And on January 7, 2021, the time had come: we had our notary appointment and our baby was born, RainmakerSociety GmbH!
Since then, we have been working on our network-driven “player agent” idea: Is there a market for our vision of a resilient career network? Do clients and members accept our services?
Year after year, we have been able to expand our partnerships with companies and move our turnover into the seven-figure range by placing top candidates. At the same time, we are working on service offerings for our members, on our platform and on our positioning. In addition to our bubbling ideas, however, I realize every day that one thing is even more important in a young company than vision and strategy: the execution of ideas, the tough implementation.
As much as technology is the driver for the valuation of company value today: It’s still people’s business! We also want to be the “tech-enabled” personal contact for our members to help them fulfill their individual needs.
“The question is, how do we personalize that machine? (…) Let’s bring soul and character to what is already there.”
[Jerry Maguire, Mission Statement “The things we think and do not say”]
With the RainmakerSociety GmbH, we want to identify the “difference makers” or accompany them on their way to becoming one of these difference makers. We want to provide a network and contacts to open doors, we want to offer tools to help along the way and we want to start a movement.
I know these are big words. And we are only at the beginning of the journey or just packing our backpacks. But once I hear the following, I know we’ve made it: “Dirk Schuran, my agent. You’re my ambassador of Kwan.”
With this in mind: LET. IT. RAIN.
