About us
The founding idea
-
On one side, there is the Wall Street “rainmaker”: the ambitious dealmaker with sharp business instincts, drive, and the ability to create opportunities where others see none. Dirk Schuran brings exactly this energy to the company as an experienced B2B sales expert and networker with more than 15 years of leadership experience. He is the strategic mind behind the business — building the foundation, creating momentum, and making sure the right opportunities lead to real outcomes.
On the other side, there is the traditional rainstick: a Chilean instrument that imitates the calming sound of flowing rain through small stones or seeds moving inside a cactus stem. It stands for rhythm, harmony, and the organic connection of many small, valuable parts into one greater whole.

This is where Rainmaker Society comes in. We are not a traditional, cold headhunter. The vision was to combine the drive of the Wall Street rainmaker with the personal, trust-based philosophy of the rainstick. Rainmaker Society acts as a career agent for top performers. Through an exclusive, curated network of more than 2,000 members and a strong focus on personal events, we create the closeness, trust, and rhythm that make meaningful connections possible.
The result: an executive search boutique that combines business drive with the ability to bring the right people together across the DACH region.
Founder’s Story
A brief look back: the Covid years turned all of our lives upside down. With my son, I had to navigate the twists and turns of the Berlin education system and experience first-hand how overwhelmed schools and public administration were. But because we are a good team, we managed. A problem shared is a problem halved. The past few years as a single father taught me one thing in particular: “can’t be done” is not an option.
Another major challenge was my step into entrepreneurship. During twenty years as an employee, I was often asked why I did not become an entrepreneur myself. I had many of the qualities people associate with entrepreneurship: resilience, willingness to take risks, passion, self-confidence, stamina, and perseverance. But something was always missing.
After helping build a company from 2015 to mid-2020, while still being employed, one idea became increasingly clear to me: we need to take more ownership of our careers and actively steer them in the right direction.
“The cause is caring about each other. The secret to this job is personal relationships.”
[Jerry Maguire, mission statement: “The Things We Think and Do Not Say”]
One service was missing in the HR market: the player agent. A player agent who helps me move to the next team as a true game changer. Someone who supports me in difficult situations with management. Someone who is my first point of contact for career questions.
You can achieve anything in life if you are willing to support other people in their mission. With Rainmaker Society we want to create exactly this place: a place where our members can share their experiences and grow together – with our professional support!
